Multiday tour – hiking – hot springs – highlands

If you are looking to get a taste of the Icelandic wilderness this is just the tour for you. This tour takes you into the heart of the Icelandic highlands where you get to experience Icelandic nature at its very rawest. Among attractions you will experience are the crater Víti, Askja caldera, the natural hotsprings in Laugavalladalur, Kverkfjöll, the highland oasis of Hvannalindir and other interesting places. In this trip you will experience both the power of fire and ice.

Day 1

This two day tour starts in Egilsstaðir or at a pickup in the area. We drive to Kárahnjúkar dam before driving the highland road towards Askja. We also stop at the natural hot springs in Laugavalladalur and other places on our way. In Askja we hike to the lake and see Víti crater. The day ends in Kverkfjöll hut where we will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2

In Kverkfjöll we will go on a glacier hike and explore the iceworld. A short mountain hike is also possible instead. On our way to Egilsstaðir we visit the highland oasis, Hvannalindir and other interesting places in the huge lavafield. The tour ends in Egilsstaðir or at your accommodation.
